We are delighted to welcome the return of Peter Jones, Tiger Moth Tales to our stage.
Described in Background Magazine as "A true masterpiece", and by Prog Mag as "A splendid, slightly barmy and thoroughly entertaining journey into the very essence of prog”.
For those people who enjoy the Melodic, whimsical and just beautifully crafted songwriting this is a concert not to be missed.
In 2014, Tiger Moth Tales released their debut album Cocoon to the unsuspecting Prog world. Tiger Moth Tales is the project of Nottinghamshire based musician Pete Jones. Cocoon started off as a writing experiment, when Jones found himself short on inspiration and enthusiasm for the pop genre, in which he had been attempting to establish himself in for years. After a long time of writer's block, Pete decided to try something different. Inspired by his love of classic Prog such as Genesis and Yes, and his newfound discoveries of modern Prog bands like BigBig Train and Moon Safari, he sat down to write some new material. "It all happened by accident really. One day I sat down to try and write a song, and ended up with the beginning of a prog song about Trumpton. I had no idea what I was going to do with it, but as I tried to focus more on conventional music, I kept getting more and more ideas about songs on childhood subjects and in my head it was all prog. It seemed there was nothing for it but to see the thing through and see what happened." (Pete)
The results of these writing sessions, became the basis for a new Prog Rock concept album, Cocoon. The album deals with the theme of Childhood, and coming to terms with the loss of childhood. The journey goes through stages of Innocence, joy, imagination, stories, friendship, love, nature, nostalgia, grief, acceptance and rebirth. Cocoon was a hit with Prog fans and critics alike. Described in Background Magazine as "A true masterpiece", and by Prog Mag as "A splendid, slightly barmy and thoroughly entertaining journey into the very essence of prog”.
Over the last ten years, Jones has become a well-known name in the Prog genre, working/touring extensively with iconic Prog bands such as Camel, Magenta, and Francis Dunnery's It Bites. He appeared on stage with the late David Longdon (Big Big Train), performing the David Longdon & Rob Reed version of the Steve Hackett classic Spectral Mornings. He has released albums with Red Bazar and The Bardic Depths, as well as 8 Tiger Moth Tales studio albums, the latest being "The Turning of the World" in 2023. A new Tiger Moth Tales album is always highly anticipated, with many tracks becoming firm favourites with Prog listeners over the years. But it all started with Cocoon in 2014.
