Most of our unique furniture is either original wood or made from reclaimed woods such as teak. Most teak furniture comes with a pre-waxed finish making it ready to use. Effects such as humidity and central heating can change the finish of your furniture. Splits and cracks naturally occur in all wood, we usually allow an of 5-6mm for this.
We recommend that once your furniture is delivered you allow it to settle for at least 3-4 weeks. Once this settling period has finished, the furniture should acclimatise to your home. If any patches or marks appear this can be the woods natural oils weeping from the grain trying to clean itself. Please allow the furniture to settle before placing any wax or products onto the surfaces.
We recommend using a beeswax, buffing wax or a liquid spray wax for cleaning. If the furniture already has a high shine, a simple damp cloth or dry duster will always work.
Applying wax can be done with fine wire wool on older items, or a lint-free cloth. We recommend Lakeone wax products which are available in our store.
