Tom Szakaly (Keyboards) (England)
Mike Ian (Vocals, Bass & Guitar). (USA)
Frank Askew (Drums & Percussion). (England)
Pictures at an Exhibition is the ground-breaking live album, originally released in 1972, recorded at Newcastle City Hall in 1971. A brilliant live document of a unique and unrivalled band at the top of their game.
ABOUT TOM
Tom discovered his passion for music early, beginning piano at six and later exploring boogie, jazz, and the groundbreaking sounds of Emerson, Lake & Palmer. By nineteen he had built his first synthesiser and joined his first band, Blinder, followed by Shanghai, earning a loyal local following with their powerful live performances and original material.
In 1987 Tom founded Noddy’s Puncture – an authentic, high-energy tribute to ELP – recreating their complex arrangements and iconic stage presence with dazzling precision. The band quickly built a national reputation, performing at the 1995 ELP Convention and later sharing the stage with the legendary Keith Emerson himself.
Using genuine vintage gear – including his famed Hammond L100 used by Emerson at Wembley Arena and the High Voltage Festival – Tom continues to celebrate and preserve the extraordinary spirit of ELP for audiences everywhere.
ABOUT TARKUS
Tarkus is a US-based tribute band devoted to recreating the music of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, featuring Keith Turner (keyboards), Mike Ian (guitar/vocals) and John M. Cassidy (drums). We are joined by Mike Ian for this performance.
ABOUT FRANK ASKEW
Frank Askew is the powerhouse drummer of Noddy’s Puncture. Inspired by Carl Palmer after first hearing Fanfare for the Common Man in 1977, Frank quickly developed a passion for progressive rock drumming, blending speed, creativity, and precision. His admiration for ELP led him to co-write the acclaimed biography The Show That Never Ends and to tour with the band in 1996.
Frank also co-founded Drum Clinics UK with Carl Palmer, organizing drum clinics, masterclasses, and outreach sessions for young and special-needs musicians. Behind his extensive Yamaha and Paiste setup, Frank brings the energy, showmanship, and technical brilliance that defined ELP’s legendary performances.
Since joining Noddy’s Puncture in 2016, he continues to captivate audiences with authentic, powerful renditions of ELP’s music—keeping the spirit of progressive rock alive.
