Babatunde Lea Live!

Trading Boundaries are delighted to announce an evening with legendary Drummer and Percussionist BABATUNDE LEA and BBC Jazz awards 2008 Best Instrumentalist - Saxophonist TONY KOFI who will be performing at our Elephant Café Bar on September 12th 2008. Babatunde and his phenomenal quartet have agreed to play at our showrooms, as part of their European Tour, bringing an explosive energy of inspirational Afro-Latino jazz. A virtuoso drummer and percussionist, Babatunde’s ability to deliver music with real ‘soul’ has made him one of the hottest acts on the USA jazz circuit and in demand from Pharoah Saunders, Stan Getz, Randy Weston and Van Morrison among others. Babatunde’s work has been forged from his childhood in New York and his deeply African roots to produce a sublime sound. Throughout the 1990s Tony Kofis saxophones were heard in several bands including both Jazz Jamaica and The Jazz Warriors. His emotional intensity and knowledge of the jazz tradition marked him out as a name to watch even then, and the work of his own bands have seen him deliver on that promise. He has now just won the coveted BBC Jazz award - best instrumentalist for 2008 making him probably the most sought after Saxophonist in the Country today.
